Leaves of Grass Summary
Leaves of Grass is a poetry collection by American poet Walt Whitman — , each poem of which is loosely connected and represents the celebration of his philosophy of life and humanity. Though it was first published in , Whitman spent most of his professional life writing and rewriting Leaves of Grass , revising it multiple times until his death. The reason made him to write all this is because he lived in a democratic regime, where people have freedom of religion, speech, etc. According to Whitman, being an American involves freedom for all humans no matter their race, age, gender, status or religion. Whitman believes Americans have a shared unity and oneness.
